A flower that got tired of being sprayed.
Danger Dan started with a simple idea. Matt wanted to make a flower. A donated tank section became the center and face, and the character started taking shape from there. Outside the shop, dandelions were growing. That was the flower he saw in it.
Then came the Roundup pack.
The air tank on Danger Dan's back came from a 1942 compressor. Once Matt added it, the walking flower became something else: a dandelion carrying the very thing people use to kill dandelions.
"He's just a flower that's just tired of the bullshit."
That is most of Danger Dan right there. Funny, defiant, a little ridiculous, and completely alive. Matt didn't build him as a self-portrait. He built a character.
"Nobody makes flowers that are humans."
And this one has had enough.
"There's more to it than just a flower."
