Is every piece one of a kind?

Yes. Every sculpture is one of one — built out of steel that already lived a life, and never repeated. Matt doesn't start from a drawing; he starts with one piece of salvage and the sculpture reveals itself from there, which is part of why no two could come out the same.

Can I commission something?

Yes, and most of the fabrication work starts that way. Rails, gates, eave vents, window frames, mailboxes and one-off builds are made to order.

If you have something in mind — even a rough sketch on a napkin — send a note and we'll talk it through. A commission usually begins as a conversation rather than a specification.

What is the metal before Matt gets it?

Chain, gears, cylinders, bumpers, worn bar stock, plate carrying the marks of whatever it used to be. New steel doesn't have a story yet; this steel does.

Where we know a part's history we record it on the piece itself, and where we don't, we say so. We'd rather leave something unknown than invent a past for it.

Can I buy directly from the site?

Not at the moment — there's no checkout here, and that's deliberate. Every piece is one of one, so a sale tends to involve a conversation about the piece, where it's going, and how it gets there.

Who will I hear back from?

Nikki. She reads every note herself and writes back, and she walks the ones Matt needs to see in to him.

She's one person, so a reply takes as long as it takes — but it will be a real one, from her.

Do you make anything besides sculpture?

Yes — that's the other side of the shop. Rails, gates, eave vents, window frames, mailboxes, and one-off builds when somebody has an idea that isn't in a catalog.

Same steel, same hands, same slow way of putting it together, just aimed at the wall or the stair or the driveway instead of the yard.

A piece I like is marked sold. Can Matt make another?

Not the same one — each sculpture is one of one and it stays that way. But that piece is a good starting point for a conversation about something built for you, out of its own salvage.
